About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage a Port Service Worker. This position is located in their busy Bowen office for an initial Permanent / Full Time.

About the Position
You will be a dedicated leader, who is involved in managing and developing the talent pool to meet the current and future needs of the Port Operations and Maintenance facilitation at this company. The other responsibilities included are the operational and maintenance activities to deliver efficient, safe and cost-effective port services to existing and potential customers of the company. 

Duties

  • Report to the Operations Supervisor – Facilities and Utilities on major maintenance requirements in order to ensure the future availability of the facilities and to reduce long-term costs.
  • Assisting in reviewing, development and implementations of improvement measures in order to meet regulatory and company standards.
  • Ensuring work activities adhere to all obligations under company policies, including the Environment Policy, the Environmental Protection Act and the Work Health and Safety Act. 
  • Operating and maintaining plant and equipment to complete required work activities.
  • Assisting with maintaining accurate maintenance records and ensure that timesheets are completed accurately with times allocated to the correct job costing codes. 

Requirement Knowledge, Experience and skills

• The ability to hold and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
• Current Queensland Class C drivers’ licence and a Queensland Security Providers Licence (or willingness to obtain one.)
• Relevant security experience, including monitoring security cameras (CCTV).
• Experience using computers and Microsoft applications (MS Word, Outlook and Excel).
• Required Physically fit, including the ability to undertake security patrols and port operations duties. This will be assessed through a pre-employment medical for the medical examination.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, controlling workflow and organising work tasks to meet deadlines and achieve quality work outcomes.
• Working knowledge of the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act and Regulations 2003 and Aviation Transport Security Act and Regulations 2004.
