Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Local Government Agency to engage a Fleet Asset Officer (Procurement). This position is located in their busy Marsden office for an initial contract starting ASAP until 11 October 2024.
About the Position
The Fleet Asset Officer is responsible for the procurement and disposal of fleet assets as part of the delivery of the client’s fleet replacement program. The Fleet Asset Officer is to deliver an efficient and cost-effective procurement process with an emphasis on excellent customer service and meeting the operational needs of internal stakeholders.


  • Manage procurement projects, including asset handover and disposal, in line with clients fleet replacement program.
  • Prepare technical specifications for fleet and develop tenders for fleet replacement.
  • Source cost-effective quotations and provide advice on Plant Fleet assets.
  • Maintain fleet asset details in client’s management system and ensure recommendations from audits are actioned.
  • Conduct safety risk assessments and manage corrective action processes.
  • Prepare reports for management regarding fleet assets and contribute to the branch budget and plant replacement program.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders, including suppliers and staff.
  • Identify clients fleet asset needs and monitor market trends to provide recommendations regarding procurement strategies.


  • Tertiary Qualifications in Business, Project Management, or Procurement & Contracting or equivalent experience.
  • IPWEA’s Fleet Management Certificate or ability to obtain.
  • Possession of a current “HR” class driver’s license or ability to obtain. A current “C” class driver’s license is required at a minimum.
  • Possession of a current WHS General Construction Induction (White) card or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience managing fleet replacement programs across a broad, related asset base.
  • Strong project management skills delivering procurement projects to quality standards, on time and within budget.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and managing corrective action plans.
  • Experience mentoring and training team members in Fleet Asset operations.
  • Well-developed knowledge of procurement and disposal practices and strategies.
  • Knowledge of plant and vehicle design requirements meeting Australian Design Regulations, Queensland Transport Regulations, National Heavy Vehicle Law and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
  • Proficiency in using relevant software (intermediate Excel) and corporate systems.
