Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an EL1 Data Science & Business Intelligence Specialist. This position is located in their busy Canberra office for an initial contract until 30 June 2025, with potential extensions available.
  
About the Position
The successful candidate will support a specialist Market Intelligence team within a Federal Government Department, focusing on financial data analysis and business intelligence solutions to inform policy development. The role involves identifying, developing, and implementing data tools that enhance the accessibility and usability of financial and market data.

Duties

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and system constraints.
• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, dashboards, and analytical tools using Power BI, SQL, and RShiny.
• Support decision-making by mapping data architecture.
• Recommend high-impact data solutions.
• Ensure data quality and integrity through testing and monitoring.

Requirements/Skills

• Strong expertise in data modelling, SQL database management, ETL processes, and data visualisation.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining Power BI and RShiny dashboards.
• Proven ability to engage with stakeholders and translate business needs into data solutions.
• Experience working within government departments or familiarity with financial and health-based data assets is highly desirable.
