Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an IT Architect (Application & Technical focus). This position is located across Australia for an initial12-month contract, with potential extensions available.

About the Position
The dual-focus IT Architect role combines responsibilities of both Application and Technical Architecture within the Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) division. You’ll play a pivotal role in designing scalable, secure, and sustainable IT systems aligned with the agency’s strategic objectives. This includes shaping system architecture, supporting development teams, and promoting best practices across cloud, integration, and DevOps technologies.

Duties

• Design and support event-driven and microservice architectures
• Develop scalable, reusable solutions aligned with organisational standards
• Provide architectural guidance across multiple projects and stakeholders
• Promote adoption of cloud-first and DevOps best practice

Requirements/Skills

• Baseline Security Clearance 
• Proven experience in system and application architecture
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, cloud design, and performance monitoring
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL, data modelling, and integration patterns
• Hands-on experience with DevOps tools (CI/CD pipelines, Git, containers)
• Deep understanding of security protocols, encryption, and system hardening
