About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an APS6 Secretariat (Indigenous Identified). This position is located Australia wide offices for an initial permanent contract.
About the Position
The successful candidate will be involved in supporting the operations of the Partnership, including research, secretariat functions, and engagement with various stakeholders such as First Nations tourism businesses, Australian Government representatives, and other national bodies.
Duties
The successful candidate will support the First Nations Visitor Economy Partnership by providing secretariat and policy/research support under the direct supervision of the company.
- Secretarial tasks such as developing agendas, drafting meeting papers, minutes, and booking travel and accommodation for members.
- Organizing both virtual and in-person meetings, including logistical requirements such as venue hire and catering.
- Supporting the Chair with briefings and speaking points as requested.
- Conducting research tasks on behalf of the Partnership and preparing submissions and other materials.
- Engaging with Partnership members and across the Australian Government to advance First Nations tourism issues.
- Managing funds for the Partnership’s operation, in line with the company and APS policies, PGPA Act requirements, and arrangements with NIAA.
- Supporting the establishment phase, including liaison with state and territory representatives and other stakeholders.
- Performing other activities as directed by the Partnership and the company.
The ideal candidate will possess the following key behaviors, experience, and skills:
• Strong secretariat, administrative, and/or project management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Initiative and sound judgment, with a willingness to learn new subject areas.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with First Nations peoples.
• Experience working and communicating sensitively with First Nations communities, demonstrating cultural competency.
• Competency in research, analysis, and informed judgment.
