Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a leading resources company to engage a Senior Advisor – Procurement and Contract Manager. This position is located in their busy Brisbane CBD office for an initial 12-month contract from 10 February 2025 to 9 February 2026 + up to 2 years of extensions.
About the Position
The Senior Advisor – Procurement and Contract Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting a complex contracting and procurement function for a large civil project based at a mine in the Northern Territory. The project is transitioning from early works to full construction, with completion targeted for 2028. The role demands expertise in managing major civil contracts and a strong background in procurement, contract law, and environmental risk management.
Duties
- Administer and oversee the full lifecycle of major and complex contracts.
- Lead the development of a Project Contracting Plan (PCP) to achieve financial savings and value creation.
- Negotiate, establish, and administer contracts while ensuring legal and environmental compliance.
- Manage 33 procurement packages over the project lifecycle, including tendering, contract administration, and reviews.
- Provide timely support to project teams and maintain high-quality stakeholder communication.
- Address environmental risks, with a focus on remediation efforts at key project sites.
- Assist in supervising an advisor assisting with minor procurement packages and related tasks.
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure contract matters align with laws and processes.
Requirements/Skills
- 10-15+ years of relevant experience in tendering and managing major civil contracts exceeding $100 million.
- Experience working on both the client/owner and contractor sides, with a focus on civil construction projects.
- Proficiency in contract administration, including handling progress claims, delays, and extensions.
- Strong knowledge of contract law and project-specific legal requirements.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Flexibility to work from home 2 days per week and willingness to travel to the project site quarterly.
