About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage a Senior Advisor – Information Access. This position is located in their busy Sydney CBD office for an initial contract until 30 June 2025.
About the Position
The Senior Advisor will play a key role in managing information access matters under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act). The ideal candidate must have direct experience in deciding GIPA applications, with a demonstrated ability to draft administrative decisions and manage time-sensitive matters. Experience with Standing Order 52 (SO52) processes is highly desirable.
Duties
- Decide GIPA applications, including drafting high-quality administrative decisions that comply with statutory deadlines.
- Coordinate responses to Standing Order 52 (SO52) requests, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks.
- Provide expert advice on governance, regulatory, and compliance matters.
- Conduct legal research, develop precedents, and provide practical support for strategic projects.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including NSW government agencies and the Crown Solicitor’s Office.
Requirements/Skills
- Proven experience deciding GIPA applications and a thorough understanding of the GIPA Act.
- Familiarity with Standing Order 52 processes is highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualifications in law, government, political science, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven ability to deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage complex, high-volume workloads.
