Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage a Senior Google Cloud Engineer (GCP). This position is located in their busy Eveleigh, NSW office for an initial 12 month contract.
  
About the Position
The Senior Google Cloud Engineer will lead the design and implementation of a secure, scalable, and cost-effective GCP foundation. This role offers a greenfield opportunity to build the GCP environment from the ground up, working within a skilled cloud team to establish landing zones, RBAC, logging, billing structures, and governance controls. Ideal for candidates with strong hands-on GCP experience and a practical, solutions-focused mindset.

Duties

• Design and implement GCP Landing Zones with secure networking and IAM
• Develop and enforce custom RBAC models for app and team access
• Integrate logs into the department’s SIEM for security monitoring
• Create dashboards and alerts for cost, compliance, and security posture
• Set up and manage billing accounts, folders, and project structures
• Apply tagging/labeling standards for cost visibility and governance
• Ensure alignment with GCP best practices (security, cost, ops)

Requirements/Skills

• Proven experience designing and implementing GCP in enterprise or government
• Strong knowledge of GCP IAM, VPC, billing, logging, and security best practices
• Experience integrating GCP with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel, Chronicle)
• Proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Deployment Manager, etc.)
