About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage a Systems Analyst. This position is located in their busy Docklands, Melbourne office for an initial 12-month contract + possible two 12-month extensions.

This agency plays a key role in delivering data and analytics services that support major government programs and digital transformation initiatives across Australia.

About the Position

The Systems Analyst will support major enterprise data and analytics initiatives by delivering high-quality system analysis and design across complex, integrated environments.

Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, the role will translate business requirements into clear system designs and support solution discovery, system integration, and delivery activities. The position will also contribute to API integration analysis and cloud-based solution design within AWS environments.

Duties

• Conduct system analysis and design activities across complex enterprise systems
• Translate business and technical requirements into system designs and functional specifications
• Analyse and document API-based integrations including OpenAPI Specifications (OAS), JSON/XML structures, and interface definitions
• Produce key system design artefacts including process flows, data mapping, and functional specifications
• Support solution discovery activities including current state analysis and impact assessments
• Assist with backlog readiness by breaking down requirements and defining acceptance criteria
• Collaborate with developers, testers, DevOps teams, and architects to clarify requirements and resolve design issues
• Assess cloud solution impacts across AWS environments including performance, security, and scalability considerations
• Identify risks, dependencies, and assumptions across assigned workstreams

Requirements/Skills

• Baseline security clearance required 
• Demonstrated experience as a Systems Analyst, Integration Analyst, or Technical Business Analyst
• Strong experience analysing API integrations and interface designs
• Experience working with OpenAPI Specifications (OAS), JSON, XML, and REST-based integrations
• Experience working within cloud environments (preferably AWS)
• Strong documentation skills including functional specifications, system designs, and process/data flows
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments
• Ability to collaborate with technical teams including developers, testers, DevOps, and solution architects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills within complex enterprise systems
