About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an EL1 Assistant Director/ APS6 Program Officer. This position is located in their busy Barton, ACT office for an initial12‑month contract.
About the Position
The Program officer will drive the implementation of the agency’s infrastructure policy and lead Australia’s engagement with likeminded international partners. The role provides policy leadership on development cooperation programs, including contributions to disaster‑resilient infrastructure initiatives and regional infrastructure facilities.
Duties
- Lead program management activities across multiple work programs, ensuring objectives are met and policies and procedures are followed.
- Negotiate and monitor contractual arrangements.
- Manage and facilitate administrative and record‑keeping requirements.
- Engage with service providers to coordinate logistics and delivery of project activities.
- Proactively collaborate with stakeholders to support positive program outcomes.
- Maintain up‑to‑date awareness of program activities and reporting obligations.
Requirements/Skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with senior officials and facilitating working‑level external engagement.
- Experience leading cross‑departmental collaboration.
- Clear, persuasive communication skills to articulate infrastructure policy to internal and external audiences.
- Highly organised, flexible, and motivated to work in a dynamic environment.
- Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
- Experience in government, an international NGO, or the infrastructure sector (highly regarded).
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Must have NV1 Security Clearance.
