About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage a Product Development Manager. This position is located in their busy Burwood NSW office for an initial contract until 13/10/2025 plus strong likelihood of extension. 
  
About the Position
The Product Development Manager will lead the end-to-end product development and improvement processes for station-related assets. This role is focused on enhancing the user experience through innovative solutions, including digital wayfinding systems and the uplift of tactile and LED-based systems across the user network.

Duties

  • Lead the development of digital wayfinding solutions, from procurement and proof of concept to implementation.
  • Oversee system architecture, cyber security review, and maintenance planning.
  • Conduct comprehensive product assessments and author technical review reports for hardware decisions.
  • Experience with tactile systems, particularly polymer-based materials used for tactile indicators (e.g., floor buttons for visually impaired persons).
  • Expertise in polymer properties such as UV resistance, hardness, and long-term durability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external manufacturers, and suppliers across the network.
  • Represent the organization as a trusted product SME in reviews and development discussions.

Requirements/Skills

  • Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Systems Engineering.
  • 10+ years of multidisciplinary experience in system design, product development, or material science.
  • Strong technical writing skills, particularly for high-quality technical reviews and lifecycle justifications.
  • Experience in tactile and surface-ground indicator systems or similar.
  • Ability to lead autonomous system and product design work.
  • Comfortable with site visits and engaging with suppliers in the field.
