Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an EL1 Senior AI Engineer. This position is located in Various locations across Australia for an initial 12-month contract, with possible extensions available.

About the Position

The The Senior AI Engineer will join the AI & Frontier Technologies team, working on the development and deployment of machine learning models, proof-of-concepts, and AI solutions. You’ll play a key role in delivering cutting-edge AI/automation components within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to emerging tech initiatives that support the agency’s strategic vision.

Duties

• Design and deliver AI and automation components in collaboration with software and ML engineers
• Develop production-grade ML solutions using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Apply emerging technologies and serverless architecture to real-world challenges
• Contribute across the DevOps and MLOps lifecycle
• Engage with stakeholders using excellent communication and collaboration skills

Requirements/Skills

• Australian Citizenship (Baseline Security Clearance required)
• Strong experience in AI/ML (including NLP, Deep Learning, Classification)
• Proficient in Python and Agile delivery practices
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS highly preferred), and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., AWS CDK)
• Background in DevOps and MLOps pipelines from inception to production
• Relevant ICT qualifications and/or industry certifications
