About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage an AO6 System Engineer (Windows). This position is located in their busy Brisbane City office for an initial 3-month contract + possible extension. 
  
About the Position
As an AO6 System Engineer (Windows), you will be responsible for the high-level management and support of a complex Windows-based environment. This includes infrastructure support, systems optimisation, backup management, security, and virtualisation across server and desktop platforms. You will play a key role in maintaining reliable, secure, and scalable IT systems and contribute to the planning and development of future system architectures.

Duties

  • Support and maintain Windows servers and services (including Exchange, SCCM, SharePoint, SQL Server)
  • Administer enterprise backups (Commvault) and system patching
  • Manage virtual environments using VMware and VDI
  • Oversee system security, access control, and documentation
  • Evaluate new technologies and contribute to future infrastructure planning

Requirements/Skills

  • Strong experience managing Windows-based server environments
  • Proven ability to administer Microsoft technologies including SCCM, Exchange, and Active Directory
  • Experience with VMware, virtual desktops, and enterprise backups
  • Strong planning, risk management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing ICT team
