Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage a System Administrator – Kubernetes. This position is located in their busy Canberra or Sydney office for an initial 12 month contract with possible extensions up to 24 months.
About the Position
The Kubernetes System Administrator plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the reliability, performance, and security of the containerisation platform. The role requires working on-site with no work-from-home arrangements. A Positive Vetting (PV) clearance is mandatory.
Duties
- Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters, including installation, configuration, and upgrading.
- Monitor cluster health and performance, and manage networking, storage, access controls, and security policies.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms, leveraging tools like Ansible to automate tasks.
- Ensure stability, scalability, and security of clusters.
- Collaborate with development teams to support smooth deployment of applications on Kubernetes.
- Produce and maintain clear design, integration, and support documentation.
- Support system operations compliance with IT security standards (e.g., ISM, ACSC Essential 8).
- Assist with accreditation processes and implementation of security controls.
Requirements/Skills
- Must be an Australian Citizen.
- Positive Vetting (PV) security clearance.
- Minimum 3 years’ system administrator experience.
Desirable
- Experience as a Kubernetes Administrator or similar role.
- Proficiency in Linux system administration.
- Strong scripting skills for automation.
- Rancher experience.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration-as-Code using Ansible.
- Git version control for Linux and Kubernetes cluster management
