About the company

Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an APS6 Senior ICT Service Operations Officer. This position is located in their busy NSW and VIC office for an initial month contract, with possible extensions available.  

About the Position
This role supports enhancing the performance and usability of an air-gapped Local Area Network (LAN). The successful candidate will work closely with scientists, technicians, and ICT professionals to modernise workflows, improve data management, and ensure optimal configuration of laboratory systems.

Duties

  • Engage with testing laboratories to develop and implement work practices and procedures for LAN usage.
  • Map data flows and storage to understand current data management.
  • Report on solution uptake and issues to management and user forums.
  • Maintain a register of software and licences to support procurement plannings.


Requirements/Skills
 

  • Baseline Security Clearance 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT enhancement projects (e.g., instrument control software, data mapping, workflow management).
  • Strong self-motivation, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative team player with negotiation and influencing experience.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Experience supporting ICT operations in scientific laboratories.
  • Tertiary qualifications in chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, or ICT.
  • Knowledge in software development, cyber security, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with scientific laboratory standards and accreditations (e.g., TGA, NATA).
