About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government to engage an EL1 Senior Infrastructure Engineer. This position is located in their busy Canberra office for an initial 12-month contract, with possible extensions.

About the Position
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will join the Infrastructure Services team within a broader enterprise IT division. This team supports a hybrid environment of cloud and on-premises systems used by staff across a global network. The role involves both operational and project work, and coordination with a team of four others.

Duties

• Day-to-day support of on-prem and cloud services
• Manage data centre compute, backup, and storage infrastructure
• Oversee internet security, SIEM, and vulnerability management tools
• Support cloud environments, identity services, and directory infrastructure
• Implement system hardening, patching, and vulnerability management
• Develop and implement team workplans
• Collaborate with development and architecture teams on new products and cloud migrations
• Identify and implement process improvements
• Deliver project outcomes efficiently and effectively
• Liaise with external vendors for installations, maintenance, and support
• Provide technical advice and mentoring to staff

Requirements/Skills

• Australian Citizenship (mandatory)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience managing small projects
• Knowledge of cyber controls aligned with government security frameworks
• Technical experience in areas such as:
• On-prem to cloud migrations
• Virtualisation platforms and server hardware
• Cloud backup and storage solutions
• Cloud infrastructure and platform services
• Security and identity management tools
