About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage an Medical Typist – Tissue Pathology & Diagnostic Oncology. This position is located in their busy Newtown, NSW office for an initial contract 6-month contract.
  
About the Position
Provide an effective full range of medical administrative support services, including medical typing, filing and records management, data input and management, mail receipt and sorting, maintenance of registers, photocopying, compilation of annuals and reports to support the smooth running of the service.

Duties 

  • Provide administrative support such as managing appointments, handling enquiries, maintaining records, and preparing correspondence.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing communication, ensuring timely action and prioritisation.
  • Maintain electronic and physical filing systems in line with compliance requirements.
  • Prepare agendas, minutes, and documentation for meetings.
  • Organise travel, conferences, and general office supplies.
  • Support clinical services by managing reception duties, enquiries, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Work independently to set priorities, monitor workflow, and escalate issues when needed.
  • Contribute to workplace safety by following WHS policies and reporting hazards.

Requirements/Skills
 
Important Requirements

  • Workers may need to use a respirator and complete fit testing. Safe use training (donning, doffing, fit check) will be provided. Facial hair must not interfere with respirator fit; exceptions apply for religious or health reasons.

Essential Criteria

  • National Criminal Record Check
  • Service Check Register
  • Pre-employment Health Assessment (Light task intensity)

Selection Criteria

  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to perform varied administrative tasks in a high-volume environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interact confidently and courteously with diverse individuals.
