About the company
Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage a Senior Finance Officer. This position is located in their busy Brisbane CBD office for an initial 8‑month contract, with possible extensions.
About the Position
The Senior Finance Officer role offers the opportunity to utilise your analytical, financial, and organisational skills. You will support financial operations, governance, best‑practice processes, and provide detailed financial insights and advice across the organisation.
Duties
- Undertake day‑to‑day financial operations including month‑end and year‑end processing, journal entries, account reviews and reconciliations.
- Provide accurate financial information and ensure integrity across general ledgers, maintaining compliance with policies, accounting standards and relevant legislation.
- Provide advice to internal and external stakeholders on financial and administrative policies, identifying issues and recommending improvements.
- Contribute to development, monitoring and evaluation of financial management strategies, ensuring compliance and promoting best practice.
- Assist in identifying training needs in financial accounting and support implementation of training programs.
- Perform financial administrative tasks and other duties as required
Requirements/Skills
- Experience with SAP ECC 6 and background in accounting/finance.
- Qualifications in accounting or finance.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Understanding of governance, best practice and process improvements.
- Knowledge of public sector financial practices and regulations.
