Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage an APS5 Community and Peer Worker. This position is located in Albury-Wodonga VIC for an initial 12‑month contract, with possible extensions available.

  
About the Position
The APS5 Community and Peer Worker will operate within a national mental health support service for current and former serving military members and their families. The role utilises Lived Experience to provide recovery‑oriented peer support, working within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to the organisation’s Model of Care

Duties

  • Provide personalised peer support to current and former ADF members and their families, supporting goal‑setting and recovery planning.
  • Apply Lived Experience to engage clients, build rapport, and enhance their participation and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including case reviews and group program co‑facilitation.
  • Promote the service within the veteran community and build strong networks with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in accordance with policies and confidentiality requirements. 
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, supervision, and peer networks.


Requirements/Skills
 

  • Personal Lived Experience of military service or military family life, including a mental health journey. 
  • Lived Experience training such as Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work, or willingness to obtain. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to advocate for recovery‑oriented, trauma‑informed practice. 
  • High integrity, professionalism, and emotional intelligence.
  • Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.
  • WWC/Vulnerable People Check required
