Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage a Customer Service Representative. This position is located in their busy Ballina office for an initial contract from 05/06/2026 until 04/12/2026, with possibility of extension.
  
About the Position
The Customer Service Representative will provide high-quality customer service, advice and support to customers across a range of government services. This role will be responsible for responding to customer enquiries, resolving issues, maintaining accurate records, supporting administrative processes and delivering a positive customer experience in line with organisational standards.

This is an on-site role based in Ballina, working full-time hours Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 5:15pm, excluding public holidays. The successful contractor will be required to complete full-time training and nesting for approximately 8–10 weeks, which may include travel to a specialised training facility in Coffs Harbour, Penrith or another approved NSW location.

Duties

  • Respond to customer enquiries across a range of matters and provide timely, accurate and consistent advice
  • Deliver high-quality customer service in line with organisational values, procedures and service standards
  • Accurately update and maintain records, databases and service delivery systems
  • Receipt, record and resolve customer complaints and escalated enquiries
  • Perform administrative tasks, including creating and updating records in line with privacy and legislative requirements
  • Support customers in understanding products, services and government transactions
  • Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors and stakeholders to achieve service outcomes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve work processes  

Requirements/Skills

  • 2–3 years’ customer service experience, ideally across call centre, administration, retail or office-based environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service focus and ability to remain professional when handling complex enquiries or complaints
  • Intermediate computer skills, including typing, email etiquette and ability to use multiple systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Teams
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and follow processes accurately
  • Previous government experience is preferred but not essential
  • Must be based in NSW
  • Must be available to work on-site for all shifts at the Ballina office
  • Ability to complete required training, including possible travel to Coffs Harbour, Penrith or another approved NSW training location
  • Ability to obtain a Police Check
