Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a Federal Government Agency to engage multiple APS4 – Insurance Service Officers. These positions are located in their busy Melbourne office for an initial contract until 31 July 2027, with a possible 12-month extension.
About the Position
The Insurance Service Officer will support the delivery of insurance services by responding to customer enquiries, providing general advice on insurance products, preparing quotes, processing policy-related transactions and supporting customers with their home and other insurance needs.
This role would suit candidates with experience in insurance, financial services, customer service, call centre, contact centre or similar service delivery environments. Candidates with Tier 2 RG146 Accreditation will be considered favourably, however this is not mandatory.
Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Responding to customer enquiries via phone and other approved correspondence channels
- Providing accurate information about insurance policies, cover options and service processes
- Preparing quotes and processing insurance policies within authority levels and underwriting standards
- Completing policy servicing activities, including updates, renewals, cancellations and payment-related queries
- Maintaining accurate records of customer interactions and transactions in agency systems
- Managing follow-up tasks, reviews and assigned work items within required timeframes
- Escalating complex matters, complaints, vulnerable customer matters, suspected fraud indicators and privacy issues where required
- Participating in a roster to support national phone coverage during operating hours
- Supporting team goals, training activities, process improvement initiatives and knowledge-sharing
- Providing support to senior advisers and management as required
Requirements/Skills
- Experience in insurance, financial services, call centre, contact centre, customer service or service delivery roles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to provide accurate advice and explain information clearly to customers
- High attention to detail and the ability to follow policies, procedures and scripts
- Strong administrative and record-keeping skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and complete tasks within required timeframes
- Sound judgement, professionalism and the ability to escalate sensitive or complex matters appropriately
- Ability to work within a structured, compliance-focused environment
- Tier 2 RG146 Accreditation highly regarded but not essential
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance, sponsored by the agency
