Role Background: 
The role involves program, policy, and stakeholder engagement activities, with expertise in Commonwealth grants design, implementation, and management.

Duty Statement:

  • Design a one-off sustainability grant for care services.
  • Develop grant governance artefacts and upskill team members.
  • Advise on grants/contracts and apply relevant policy.
  • Support ECEC programs through implementation, data, reporting, grants, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage Branch programs and strategic priorities to enhance access.
  • Draft documents (e.g., briefings) for Ministers and senior executives.
  • Lead policy work – understand the broader context and link issues.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Work autonomously and as a team leader.
  • Demonstrate strategic and leadership qualities at the EL1 level.

Requirements:

  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills
  • Sound judgement and policy development ability.
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration.
  • Strong project management skills, prioritizing tasks/resolving issues.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, meeting tight deadlines.
  • High standard of written and verbal communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to consult and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Use evidence, including data, to prepare reports and advice.
  • Contribute positively to team culture, especially during change.
  • Experience leading a small team is highly desirable.
